Peculiar Objects Statement:

Each of these objects lived and functioned in my life for a time.  At some point their use ended, became obsolete or broke and was no longer needed.  Since that time, I have been repeatedly coating them in latex paint transforming what was once familiar and commonplace into something unrecognizable and weighty.  Something about the home and its objects is fragile and fleeting but deeply foundational and essential. While they are mere matter, everyday objects represent routine, comfort and stability to us and so we need them. Yet the objects themselves are disposable and temporal in our lives presenting a duality between the objects’ fleeting nature and our perpetual need of comfort and routine.  In slowly coating these objects overtime, I am changing my relationship with them, preserving and giving weight to these sources of comfort.
